Description

This is Sky Wave Gin’s fabulous second London Dry gin, developed during, and to reflect life, under the 2020 Lockdown. “It’s born of love and inspired by nature,” says Andrew Parsons, Sky Wave’s Master Distiller. It is a multi-award winner, including winning The Gin Guide Awards 2024, a Gold at the 2022 World Gin Awards and a Silver at the 2021 London Spirits Competition.

The 700ml size has a back label with tasting notes and with the distiller’s name handwritten. ABV is 42%

OUR APPROACH

Born of Love; Inspired by Nature. This is Sky Wave Gin’s fabulous new London Dry gin, developed during, and to reflect life under, the 2020 Lockdown.

It began as a birthday gift from our Master Distiller to his wife, Rachel. When he asked her how she might like to mark a significant birthday, her request was, ‘to make me the most wonderful gin.’ He set about creating an exceptional spirit made with all his love for her.

Then Lockdown struck, and the world was turned upside down. But amongst the fear and the pain, a change became evident. People were calmer, kinder, less rushed. People were thoughtful of each other again, and communities were reborn. We started to enjoy the quiet. We read, we talked, we spent real time with our families.

And we started to notice nature as it grew and flourished through the Spring and into the Summer, oblivious of human difficulty. Hedgerows flourished, meadows blossomed, birds sang – and we heard them!

As we spent the time to develop our gin we drew inspiration from these changes, and from the nature all around us which many of us had never taken the time to enjoy before.

And as we emerged from the strangest of times it felt like a form of liberation. A liberation with a determination never to go back to exactly how it was; to take the best of what we had learnt and leave the worst behind. This is why we called our gin ‘Liberation’. We made it through, together, but we’ll never forget. Born of Love, Inspired by Nature.

TASTING NOTES

Juniper and dry spices – including hints of coriander – dominate the palate but are balanced with zesty lemon and subtle, lifted vanilla notes. With some rounded sweetness on the medium finish this is a very pleasing spirit.

PERFECT SERVE

Liberation should be served one part gin to two parts neutral tonic such as Merchant’s Heart, mixed with plenty of ice and garnished with a slice of lime, fresh raspberries and a sprig of lemon verbena.
